A little about me ...
I first came to Vancouver Island, almost six years ago with my husband, where we bought a home in Lake Cowichan. Since then, I have become a mother of an amazing little boy, completed my Bachelor of Education, moved to Port Alberni, and am now continuing my professional development as I embark on the Special Education Teacher Specialty Post Degree Diploma.
Before moving to the island, I worked for a General Contractor doing residential construction all while completing my third level as a carpenter apprentice at the Northwest Community College in Terrace B.C. While I truly did and always will love carpentry, I realized that that career path wasn't right for me. I also realize that teaching is an entirely different career path than becoming a journeymen carpenter, and while I considered technology education, I chose elementary education instead. While I admit that I remain a bit conflicted as to which teaching path is meant for me, I know one thing for certain; I am meant to be a teacher. What excites me about elementary education is that it encompasses the time in children's lives where teachers are fortunate to be able to experience the magic and mystery of the world through their eyes. It is also a remarkable time where children develop the foundational skills that inspire their dreams.
