TRB Standard #7
Educators engage in career-long learning.
Educators engage in professional development and reflective practice, understanding that a hallmark of professionalism is the concept of professional growth over time. Educators develop and refine personal philosophies of education, teaching and learning that are informed by theory and practice. Educators identify their professional needs and work to meet those needs individually and collaboratively.

For TRB Standard #7, I have chosen to include some handouts from the Langley PITA Conference I attended last October, a certificate from a workshop I attended last fall, and an acknowledgement letter of my successful completion in a Fundamental Movement Skills Conference I attended last spring. Together, I feel that these demonstrate my commitment to professional growth over time. I also chose to include a reflection from one of my lesson plans during my practicum last year as I feel that it demonstrates my reflective practice. As an educator it is important to take time to reflect on one's teaching practice in order to celebrate what went well and consider what you may want to change in the future. It is also important to continue to engage in learning ourselves so that we can grow both personally and professionally as educators. You can find a more comprehensive list of the professional development that I have participated in the past three years under the Professional Development heading under the About Me heading. |
