TRB Standard #3
Educators understand and apply the knowledge of student growth and development.
Educators are knowledgeable about how children develop as learners and as social beings, and demonstrate an understanding of individual learning differences and special needs. This knowledge is used to assist educators in making decisions about curriculum, instruction, assessment and classroom management.
For TRB Standard #3, I chose both my Year 4 Pre-Learning Assessment and my Who Are the Learners assignment as evidence. Considering the Pre-Learning Assessment was developed so that, as student teachers, we could enter our practicum class/school better informed and prepared to make decisions, I feel that my pre-learning assessment represents this TRB standard quite well. As for my Who Are the Learners assignment, I feel that it demonstrates my understanding of individual learning differences as it recognizes two very different students, in terms of who they are as learners, in my practicum last semester and identifies their individual differences and ways through which to support their learning.
