Learning Intention #3:
We all have assumptions, values and beliefs that influence our perspectives on teaching and learning.
I chose my identity paper as demonstration of having met the above learning intention as I feel that it communicates this learning intention thoroughly. In writing this paper I really tried to focus on what has influenced my perspectives on teaching and learning. As a result, this paper discusses who I was and am as a learner, what privileges I was or wasn't afforded as a child, the privileges that I am afforded now, and their implications as a teacher.
Writing this paper gave me the opportunity to reflect on my childhood, consider the significance of the experiences in my life, and really assess the implications they have on me and my teaching practice. This experience also encouraged me to write from a very vulnerable place; that once written the words became a permanent fixture of my identity. This has not only helped me overcome any insecurities or uncertainties that I may have previously felt, but also provided me a firm understanding of where my perspectives came from. |
